It’s time for Annual Fire Alarm Testing! As part of the on-going maintenance to prevent fire and safety hazards, the Board has scheduled Brimstone Fire and Safety to conduct the Annual Fire Alarm Testing on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 10:00 AM There is no need to access your unit or for you to leave your home during this process. However, alarms will sound periodically during the 2 to 3 hour test. If there was a need to exit the building, the bells would ring consistently instead of intermittently. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lana or Brian in the Front Office at 206-706-4517. Thank you in advance for your participation in helping to maintain our community. In observance of Thanksgiving, the office will be closed on Thursday, November 22nd.

Last night, a homeless man was found sleeping in the back hallway near the trash room. It appears he entered through the garage and was looking for a dry place to rest. A homeowner called the police, facilitated their entry and watched SPD escort him off the property. The Board is addressing this incident. The office will be closed Monday, September 3rd, 2018 in celebration of Labor Day. We look forward to seeing you Tuesday when the office reopens! If you have a maintenance emergency, please call 206.223.0721. The Staff and Board wish you a happy and safe Labor Day! In August 2017, the Seattle City Council unanimously passed Fair Chance Housing legislation, becoming the first city in the nation which prohibits use of criminal records when considering an applicant for rental property. This ordinance took effect in February 2018.
To help our owners comply, the Board has revised the criteria for renting units at Canal Station. Leases, Moving Fees and Resident Info Sheets are still required. However, in lieu of criminal background checks, the Board requires a search of the sex offender registries. To make things easier, here is a link to DOJ’s sex offender registry: https://www.nsopw.gov/en/Search/Verification. Be aware, the new city ordinance states owners must disclose they will be searching sex offender registries in the rental advertisement/screening criteria. City of Seattle offers free seminars to help owners comply. The next seminar is, Renting in Seattle: Fair Housing and Rental Regulations for Landlords.
