Dear Canal Station Community,
We care about the welfare of our residents, visitors and staff. As such, we are closely monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak in relation to our building operation. We encourage everyone to follow the guidelines and recommendations of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) to reduce risk of infection. More residents are working from home as many businesses are encouraging employees to telecommute, even if they are not sick. In response to the extra touches to surfaces, our maintenance team has focused extra attention to wiping down the elevators (with particular care toward the buttons and rails), as well as the surface areas of the lounge and fitness room. Please be certain you are using the antiseptic wipes provided in the fitness room if you choose to utilize the equipment. There have also been concerns about the touchpad of the Luxer One room. If you download the new mobile app from Luxer One, the touchpad is no longer required. The app will unlock the door from your phone. Further, staff has been wiping down the door handles and keypads to help reduce infection risk. We’ve advised our employees to follow the public health authorities' guidance regarding hygiene and personal travel, and we’ve reinforced existing Canal Station’s policy encouraging employees who exhibit flu-like symptoms to stay home and consult with a medical professional. If you are exhibiting symptoms, please consider limiting your time in the common areas. Finally, we have had some concern about planned maintenance projects. Specific units were notified about the Deck Painting and/or the YES Energy Meter Maintenance. One technician will enter your unit to perform the task required. It is no different than encountering one stranger on the street and it is our intent to get these projects completed before potential expansion of the Covid-19 outbreak. You do not need to be present for these tasks to be accomplished. Waiting a few months risks the outbreak becoming more severe and losing the window for preventative maintenance. Thank you for your assistance and understanding during this challenging time.
